about

In a phrase this album could be considered to be an epilogue of the past few years of my life,
while at the same time a pretty heavy personal reflection of the past and future.

It's a collection songs about growing up, self awareness, not knowing what to expect, being a child and picturing yourself many years down the road, practicing a certain level of humility and overall trying to be nicer to people...

Because if you know me, you know that I'm a morose shell of a human being who is riddled with anxiety and fears about the future, rather than being focused on the moment...

BUT, that I also have a vision for growth in the future, and am always trying to work towards that ultimate goal of freedom from the all consuming dread that binds me.

but beyond that, the album really is about walking a fine line between getting lost in nostalgia and growth...
A need for a bit of adventure, love and finding joy even through all the dense and lumbering darker periods.

It feels natural and organic to me, and is inspired by such.

Overall I am the happiest I have ever been in my life
(despite the seasonal slump, and the fact that for the last 2-3 months I've spent literally every hour of everyday alone in the attic, recording music.)

I've never felt more in line with my own songwriting style.

Over the past few months I literally had to stop myself from writing songs sometimes, because they wouldn't stop coming...
I would sit down with a microphone and start playing and there would be like 5-6 songs in a couple hours.

Overall I actually have about 35 exported 'songs' (not to mention the projects that I forgot about or never finished enough to consider releasing it)
so my plan is to also release a collection of some of those songs on a separate release, sort of as 'outtakes' and 'demos' if you will.

I also plan on including a PDF of a pile of scans I took from my journal and writing book. Because I have no idea what other purpose that could serve, it's not doing me any good just sitting here on my bedroom floor.

Aesthetically the album is me, but it may be different than what you might expect.
A lot of people I talk to seem to think that I'm an 'ambient' artist.
While there is a lot of 'ambient' sections throughout it sure,
there is also A LOT more folk, singer-songwriter and pop influence...

and a lot of it is very lo-fi, but at the same time, some of the tracks aren't.
because I also like bigger more well-mixed productions.

in short. it's a bunch of songs, that I like.

credits

released February 11, 2017

All songs written, recorded performed and produced by Andrew McLeod.

With the exception of "the closest to hell" which was engineered and co-produced by Nick Grimshaw.

I would also like to thank the people around me who love and support me in whatever I do, whether that be friends and bandmates or family. Even though I am probably one of the most difficult people they are friends with, or care about.
